First ER Visit

Around midnight on Thursday, Walker woke us up with loud painful coughs and wheezing. It sounded like he was having a really difficult time breathing, so we called his pediatrician. She listened to his breathing over the phone and recommended that we take him to the ER.

The ER doctors and nurses quickly checked him out. They hooked him up to a pulse oximeter and determined that despite the labored breathing, he was getting enough oxygen. They diagnosed him with croup, and gave him a steroid shot and breathing treatment. Within an hour or two, he seemed to be feeling better and was able to sleep for a while.

He still has a little bit of a wheeze going on, and we're thankful that his terrible-sounding cough is gone. Most importantly, Walker seems to be feeling better and has been crawling all over the living room today. He's ready for the Horns game!

  2. Wow! Look how big he looks. I am glad that he is okay. I have been in that same situation with Harper, but not quite that young. What good parents ya'll are. - Sara

  3. He looks so healthy, but that nighttime cough can slip up on the healthiest of little ones. So glad you two were on the ball. He looks so sweet and precious. Can't wait to get my hands on him again. Or, at least to talk to him up close. I miss your mom. Let me know if you guys come to town before she gets back. I'll meet you anywhere to see you all!! Hugs and kisses, Emmy PS Love that UT shirt -- Hook'em
